I cannot express in words, how much joy it brings me to see the mighty ducks in last place.

But the ever-exciting possible pending doom of the quacks organization leaves us with a frightening possibility… a name change a la the Angels!
The Los Angeles Ducks of Anaheim
Can you imagine?
The press release could look something like this…
The National Hockey League’s Ducks added Los Angeles to their name to try to increase business in the second biggest U.S. media market. Starting today, the team is calling itself the Los Angeles Ducks of Anaheim in a move it said will “strengthen the Ducks’ long-term economic health by enhancing the marketability through this metropolitan area and beyond.”

This has the makings of being both immensely hilarious and, as I said, frightening.
Hilarious in that it would be incredibly satisfying to watch the Ducks go from Cup winner to the new Clippers, to watch a perennial winner become the laughing stock of the league, to watch every Duck fan shrill at the sound of their beloved quacks associated with the very city they despise. All of this would bring a never ending stream of smiles to my face and countless occurrences of true LOL moments.
Of course, for every action, there is an opposite and equal reaction.
We, as Kings fans, would have to share our city with another club. This is fundamentally blasphemous. We’d also have to consider the painfully intimate possibility that the Ducks would eventually rise up and take the moniker “Kings of LA” as their own. This is equally as blasphemous and downright unthinkable. Plus, the Angels/Dodgers are not only in different divisions, they are in different leagues! Being in the same division and same conference, a Kings/Ducks same-city rivalry has a myriad of more potentially damaging subplots that are, as I said, downright frightening!
But until then, I will just continue to watch and enjoy the mighty sucks long awaited backslide into an average, and then below average, NHL team. We still have a long way to go and we Kings fans cannot truly celebrate until we hoist the Cup, but I believe it is now clear that the tide has turned, the pendulum is swinging and the see is sawing when it comes to the rivalry that is the Kings vs. Ducks.
