With all the talk of magic numbers and formulas on how to determine when the Kings will clinch a playoff spot, I have discovered a new equation that takes into count a revolutionary concept in sports fan hysteria…
Common sense.
And if you look at the super high-tech chart below, it reveals an almost mythical conclusion… the Kings have made the playoffs.

I know, I know, crazy huh? Crazy to think that with one game less to play, 9th place Calgary must not only make up the 5 point difference in 5 games, but they must do so while passing Colorado.
What’s the likelihood of that happening? Common sense says it won’t.
In those 5 games, the Flames play the Avs, Hawks, Sharks, Wild, and the Nucks. Common sense says Calgary will grab 5 points out of these 5 games, leaving them with…yep…92 points.
And as I’m sure you’ve already noticed in the super amazing chart, the Kings already have 92 points. And as I’m sure you already know, the Kings beat the Flames in a tiebreaker.
So there you have it folks. No need to worry any longer about whether the Kings will make the playoffs or not. They already did. Even in the unlikely event they go 0-6 the rest of the way.
And of course, common sense says that won’t happen.
