I see there’s a question over at LAKI as to whether Williams should play or not tomorrow night. The decision has already been made, regardless of what Terry Murray decides. How you ask?
Simple. Justin Williams is NOT “Justin Williams” as we know him. As one of my favorite players on the team, it’s hard for me to admit it, but it is as clear as Caribbean water that he is not himself since the latest injury. Therefore, regardless of what body is in the lineup, “Justin Williams” will not be playing Monday night.
Seems like a repeat of the end of his first season here. He came over with the hand injury, and he simply could not stickhandle. I have no idea why, I want the guy to do well, we need him to do well, but he is snake-bit on scoring, soft on D and prone to blue-line turnovers. Hopefully he can get back in the line-up, maybe limited to the 4th line, but if Vigneault gets Sedins against him it could be a turning point in a game.
I would like to see Willy take in some practices,emphasising his defensive positionong.Extra work at practice,and a couple of days off did wonders for Quicks game.I think the same strategy should apply here.
Ever since Willy came back from his injury,he’s been rushed out on the ice in an effort to get him into game situations.Physically I think he’s close,but his reads during games show inconsistancy.
