No, it’s not the squeal to one of the best surf movies ever.
It’s the sequel to a long line of huge hockey days in the lead up to the NHL playoffs next month.

The LA Kings start the day in 6th place in the West with 76 points. The best they can do by the end of the day is jump to 4th.
Of course, that would be ideal. Here’s how:
Only 1 of the 2 teams immediately ahead of the Kings plays today. Calgary with 77 points is idle and Chicago with 78 points plays red-hot Toronto in the Leaf’s barn.
If the Maple Monkey’s beat Chicago and the Kings beat Vancouver, both teams will have 78 points. However, the Kings (65) will have played 1 less game than the Blackhawks (66).
Fewer games played being the 1st tiebreaker puts the Kings ahead of the Hawks for 4th place in the west and will keep them in 2nd place in the Pacific.
Here comes the other side of the coin:
Dallas and Phoenix, who are immediately behind the Kings also play today. Fortunately they both play tough teams. The Stars are at the Sharks and the Yotes play host to deadly Detroit.
If the Kings win and Dallas and Phoenix lose, we could see a little separation today. But if the Kings (heaven forbid) lose and those other teams win, we could see LA fall as far as 8th place in the West and 4th place in the Pacific.
Needless to say, it’s yet another crucial day for the Kings. Go LA!
