Bitter Suite

Five Staples Center Suites sold out by readers of LAKI. It was great fun, but ultimately bittersweet. It’s never, ever fun to lose but if you have to, it makes it a little easier when you are surrounded by great hockey fans. So cheers to all of you who came last night. It was a lot of fun riding the wave…

Here’s what puck73 had to say about last night…

Obviously, everyone will want to talk about the game and the season, so that’s covered. Me, I want to talk about last night in the Rich Hammond suites. Finally got to meet Dominick, and let me tell you his hockey knowledge and ability to break the game down are as good as anyone I have spoken to in person. It was great to meet him and his brother in law.

Happy Lappy is exactly what you think he is, a guy with experience who cant stop talking and always has a smile on his face. To me, Lappy is like bowling, the more he drinks, the better he gets! lol.

Ravens is a guy with very good hockey knowledge as well, he used to be in the band The Wall of Voodoo which is really cool, I’m sure Poorman would have loved to talk to him.

Mcsoreleyfan is a big guy with a big heart. This guy had brain surgery 3 weeks ago with the bandages to prove it and he was there whooping it up like the rest of us. I was so inspired by him that I bought him and I a beer we rapped for a little while.

Variable and Wavesinair are the life of the party, believe me you want these guys to show up at a party you are throwing and I cant wait to see them at Frozen Fury!

Kingfanone is someone I met at the last Hammond event and is really smart when it comes to the Kings, he know his stuff, and I always like talking about the history of the kings with him. And finally there is KC23, To me he is one of the nicest most selfless people I have met. I met him opening night, then later met his wife who is really cool, as well as 2 of his 3 daughters. KC, like Kingfanone is very good at Kings history and the state of the team currently.

And finally, I saw Rich Hammond again last night and as usuall he couldnt have been nicer, he taked to Goring19 on my cellphone because he couldnt attend in person. Anyway, thanx for a great time last night everyone, and I cant wait to see you all at rookie camp in July, and of course frozen fury… good day everyone.

And here’s a little video…terribly shot by me. Just to clarify, there were 5 suites total. 2 were connected, then 3 were connected next door. There were some very cool people in our 2 suites, but the mood wasn’t, well, very lively…so we ended up going next door where all the action was…

  • Bitter Suites…

Sounds like a lodge up in the Adirondacks, NY…

Thanks for the pics, wish I were there!

    –Peace!

  • Dominick

Ahhh! good times. One of these days we’re going to enjoy a playoff game where the Kings actually win. Always a pleasure hangin with you and Can’t wait to see you, and all the guys at the next event. Go Kings!

It has to happen eventually, right? Man. It’s tough to take 5 in a row. It’s hard to believe my friend. Great to see you again and keep in touch when you head up for the next event. Cheers!

    • Kingsfanone

Great meeting you Dominick! Hey, I thought you live in San Diego area? You didn’t drive all that way yesterday, did you? I am glad you made it to the game, as I’ve wanted to meet you for quite some time now. We’ll be talking! Take care!

  • Kingsfanone

Great to finally meet you waves, and although a disappointment the Kings lost, being in the suites with everyone was very enjoyable! I’m glad we had a chance to talk and I look forward to rookie camp and Frozen Fury like puck73.

    Til next time!

Good to meet you too KFO! Did you catch that interview with Patrick O’Neal and Gretz? See the stick Pat had signed? Now that’s a fan! LOL. See you next time.

    • Kingsfanone

Yes, I did see the Gretz interview. During the game my brother actually texted me about it as he watched on TV. Patrick seems to be a cool guy, and I always wish only good things for him. Like I told you, at the last Hammond Suite game in Nov. I had the chance to talk with Patrick for a few minutes, and I came away a supporter for him. Cool guy!

  • Really great meeting you last night man, sorry I wasn’t able to be more involved in inner-suite affairs. I had my dad and buddy with me which kind of kept my hands full during non-gameplay time. Hope we can all do it again next season and I look forward to chatting it up on the blogs.
    Have a good off season,
    -Allen

    • wavesinair

Hey Allen! Good to meet you too….and there was another poster in front of you (with his son) whose name escapes me… No worries on the chatting, etc. Next time!

I totally understand how many people come with relatives and children, etc. and don’t have the time to chit-chat. It can be a tough balance when it comes to talking between whistles and then completely tuning everyone out when the puck drops. Cheers!

The Hammond suite events are the best way to watch the game and have a couple of pops with everyone. I cant wait to you guys at frozen fury, MAN, that’s gonna kick ass! I also hope we can have some sort of event over the summer with some of the guys on this site somewhere in so.cal. If not, then see you at rookie camp in July, and fanfest in September!
