Kingstradamus: Game 2

Be a winner... predict the future!

What is this about? Matt Murray from Life in Hockeywood proposed a Kings blogger prediction panel for the rest of the season. We simply predict the score of the game and give a reason why we believe it will turn out that way. I’m also including commenters from LA Kings Insider to compete against us!

Scoring: There are 3 ways to score. 1) Wins and losses. 2) Plus/Minus 3) And the ‘exacta’ which is predicting the exact score of the game. The plus/minus works like this: You get a -1 for every goal you’re off. If you’re off by 2 goals for one team and 1 goal for the other, then that’s a -3. You get a +1 for predicting one correct score, you get a +1 for predicting the total number of goals correct, OR you get a +3 for predicting the exact score (exacta).

What do I win? This is just for fun. There’s nothing to win except mad respect and ice cred (not to be confused with street cred). If you miss a game, you’re out.

*Predictions are sorted by current standings. Bloggers are in bold, linked to their respective websites.

PREDICTIONS – Game 2 of 32

Los Angeles Kings vs. St. Louis Blues

Name Prediction Reason
Quisp Kings 7-3 A reason? Hmm. Well, I have this sports stats book from the future…
wavesinair Blues 2-1 Rust: Part 2 – Now it’s the Blues turn to shake off the long break. Hot before, I see them staying so at home. Plus, they’ve lost both games against the Kings this year, so that’s good motivation. The Kings will battle as usual, but their not-so-good play against Columbus, coupled with the ‘lucky’ last second goal, will be reminders that they are still struggling with the ‘O’.
Bobby Scribe Kings 8-1 If I am right, it will make Quisp’s head explode, given his prediction.
Meg Jarrell Blues 2-1 OT Because we always seem to struggle against teams from the Central Division, and this one is actually decent.
trytodethroneus Blues 2-1 OT The KINGS, still fuming after a late disallowed goal, let their emotions get the better of them… tj oshie scores
variable Blues 2-1 The Blues are 21-3-4, (7-1-2 in their last 10) at home.  Both teams struggle to score goals and are known for their defense.  The Kings gave the Blues one of their three home losses back in November, 3-2.  But I think St. Louis prevails in this one.
Cynic Kings 3-1 St Louis has lost their last 2, both games fairly tight, and this will be no different with the Kings scoring late to win on the road.
Jon Gillette Kings 4-2 The Kings don’t wait until the last second, or any chance of controversy, in this one.
40YearKingsFan Kings 3-1 This will be a tight defensive game going 1-1 into the third where the Kings will get a power play goal to go ahead and then an empty netter to seal the deal after Quick or Bernier make several spectacular saves to hang on to the lead.
Kingsfanone Blues 3-1 If he has a reason, he’s not telling…
Dominick Kings 3-2 It’s a 3-2 league, and tonight’s game will be a 3-2 game Kings. 1 goal by Stoll, 1 by Richards, and 1 by Lewis in the shootout (Stoll will score in the shootout also, but won’t win it.)
Happy Lappy Kings 3-2 Kings have their number, 1st game of road trip, Kings will come out hard and get the early lead. Great stats when scoring first.
Nofreight ?
Matt Murray Kings 2-1 The Blues were white hot in January, but cooled right before the All-Star Break. They also haven’t played in ten days. The Kings should be able to grind one out against the Blues for their third win of the season series.
KC23 Kings 3-2 Blues coming off a 10 game break will have a slow first period allowing the Kings to get ahead early and then hold on.
Forum Gold Blues 4-2 We do not seem to play well in this building and the Blues are hot. I hope I’m wrong as I hate hearing that damn bell go off 4 times. GO KINGS GO!!!
Andrew ?
McSorleyfan Blues 2-1 SO There are many parallels between these two teams. Both have excellent defenses which I see dominating the game. Both would like more offense. Giving the Blues the win here, not because I grew up in St. Louis, but based on their stellar home record. Neither team has won a cup, and both were born in the first expansion (Second 6 Teams), and will be driven by the proximity of the play-offs and the opportunity to bring it home. Therefore I see the Kings grabbing 1.
DetroitSons1952 Kings 4-3 OT Because I have my own Kool-Aid
The Royal Half Kings 4-2 After playing Cher’s “If I Could Turn Back Time” in the dressing room prior to the game, the LA Kings regain their scoring touch… from pre-season.
CB14 Blues 3-1 Copy and paste what Hipcheck wrote, add to it the fact that St. Louis is great at home, and we apparently just changed up 3 of our forward lines.
Hipcheck Blues 3-1 If it took the Kings 60 minutes and 1 second to score 3 against the BJs 31st ranked defense, I don’t like our chances against the team ranked #2 in GAA.
LBLocal Kings 4-3 OT Apparently, his lips are sealed…

waves’ notes: Oh yeah, it’s on like Donkey Kong now boys and girls. Quisp’s gone panelcidal on us. 7 goals? That’s just plain silly. Late entry Bobby one-upped him going with a mind-boggling 8 goals. Johnny and Chris with 4 is nutty enough. No way the Kings walk out with 2 points tonight. Of course, Quisp will win again. If he gets tonight’s score right, I quit this stupid game…
