About wavesinair

Like some of you, I was a regular commenter on the old Inside the Kings site. When I first started commenting there at the beginning of the 2007-08 season, I briefly went by the nickname ‘Army’ which is a take on my last name. Later, I changed my name to ‘wavesinair’ and haven’t looked back.

I always like to learn how fans come up with their nicknames and mine is simply a take on the idea that energy ‘waves’ of various forms surround us at all times…hence ‘waves in air.’ It also happens ties into the fact I’ve been a surfer for most of my life.

I’m a native Angelino and have supported all LA teams, except football. Oddly, I became a Steeler fan when I was but a wee lad and remain one to this day. So for me it’s the Dodgers, Lakers, Galaxy, Kings… and Pittsburgh? Sure, why not. After all, the Steelers do embody many of the same values hockey has adopted.

Ice hockey is far and away my favorite sport for many reasons I won’t get into. I’ll say though that it’s the dichotomy between behaving honorably and –at times– brutally that intrigues me most of all. It’s a microcosm of many of the positive and negative traits we all poses as humans.

I currently live in El Segundo, not far from where the Kings (and Lakers) practice. In my off time I enjoy attending practices, dinning out at the many local eateries — I’m a big wine connoisseur (hello Foxy?) and of course, I love to surf. My local break is El Porto for those in the know. So if you’re ever in town, feel free to drop me a line. Maybe we can catch a practice together…or even a wave!
